‘In The Mood For Luxe’ by Andre Tan

Pop artist Andre Tan revisits his obsession with consumerism and the daily bombardment of Western luxury items in this new collection of paintings. Historical Chinese figures which have so far dominated the canvas are now joined by striking dancers and alluring Chinese beauties including an iconic actress clad in the traditional qipao.

Andre continues to juxtapose historical Chinese images with popular Western luxury brands revealing the bittersweet nature of luxurious consumption whilst at the same time imbuing these yesteryear images with a newfound current social relevance. Romanticism and old world nostalgia are bestowed with a new identity in the 21st Century.
