The Asian Prom: Dances of Asia in Visual Art
description:This exhibition will feature elucidating paintings depicting various dance forms of Asia, by 6 accomplished artists who hail from France, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and India. No doubt, dance is indeed the ruling concept of the exhibition. However, how abstract or how photo-realistic or how symbolic the portrayal in each painting is going to be, is absolutely up to the individual artist. To capture the feel of unpredictable movement, the intensity of emotion or the culture-specific principle of a dance form on canvas, is magical indeed.Opening Preview with Balinese and Indian Dance Performance: 25 August 2012, 12 noon onwards Exhibition Duration: 25 August 2012 – 5 September 2012 Venue: The Gallery of Gnani Arts (new gallery space) #01-17, Tanglin Shopping Centre 19, Tanglin Road Singapore 247909 Tel: 6735 3550, 9850 4006 Gallery Hours: Mondays to Saturdays: 11am – 7pm Sundays: 11am to 6pm Free Admission. |
