Adverbially Singapore
description:Presented by Arts to You Services and L’Etoile Café, artist Tilen invites you to his debut solo exhibition entitled Adverbially Singapore where audience saunter streets of Singapore through artist’s colourful rendition of the urban life. Akin adverb to an adjective or verb, Tilen’s bold strokes and fervent colours accentuate the familiar sights in Singapore. His depiction of Singapore defies actuality, rendered in colour that he senses rather than sees. Vividly awash with hues of every imaginable colour, his watercolours slyly turn familiar places into stranger, more flamboyant versions of themselves. In his ink renditions, Tilen toys with other extreme. Stripped of colour, the same places take on a raw simplicity that draws attention to things we inadvertently miss – the subtleness of the street curve, the way buildings seem to huddle closely together for comfort, the portrayal of shadow of trees on the pavements.Sometimes, adverbs are necessary. |
