This summer, the spotlight turns upon itself quite literally with the opening of the blockbuster “Spots & Dots”– Damien Hirst and Yayoi Kusama exhibition at Pop and Contemporary Fine Art.

Damien Hirst’s spots could not be more different from Kusama’s polka dots in terms of tone, sizes and visual style. Unlike Kusama’s monochromatic field of polka dots, no colour is repeated within each of Hirst’s spot paintings.

Arranged with in a grid-like formation, with the diameter of each spot being identical to the spaces between, the spots of Damien Hirst exhibit consummate control and a military precision.
