Chinese Bible: Yang Zhichao
description:For Chinese Bible, Yang Zhichao spent three years collecting personal diaries from second-hand shops in Beijing. Yang collected 3,000 diaries, inscribed with writings and images, which were created by multiple generations over some 50 years between 1949 and 1999. While the diaries reflect the cultural and sociopolitical landscape during the half-century of monumental changes in China, they are also poignant expressions of individual thought during this era of massive collectivization of a people.Co-organised by Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore and 10 Chancery Lane Gallery, Hong Kong. |
