Xiao Er Hei’s Marriage tells the tale of two star-crossed lovers who embark on a journey of overcoming the age-old tradition of arranged marriage during a feudal era. In the course of doing so, true human nature is revealed – the beauty of kindness in troubled times, as well as the underlying torrent of greed and selfishness. Conducted by Music Director Dr Tay Teow Kiat, City Chinese Orchestra is the first orchestra in Singapore to present Xiao Er Hei’s Marriage in the format of a concert. (2 hours, including 20min intermission. Performed in Mandarin.)
