Suitable for beginners and intermediates, the course explores a variety of hot glass techniques adapted to a furnaceless situation using recycled glass, float glass and/or factory glass. We will be working with existing glass forms found in the surrounding environments. We will heat the glass using pastorelli and pick-up ovens, break, join, sculpt, cut and blow it at the glory hole to create a variety of forms that go together to create artworks as compositions and installations. We focus on learning about the movement and manipulation of hot glass. It will be fun and very busy. Getting as much hands-on experience as possible in the hot shop. |
