I almost decided to postpone my visit, a missing hand phone and other irritations weighing me down, but I make the effort and drag myself to the show. The staff of Sculpture Square are in the process of unlocking the doors of the Chapel Gallery as I arrive. Stepping into the still dark space I hear the twittering of birds nesting somewhere in the roof mingled with the rustle and squeak of the halogen spotlights coming to life. As the lights warm up I find myself surrounded by deliciously childlike clouds painted directly onto the walls or hung from wires, while organic patches of colour flow like hot sweet sauce over the floor. After the initial surprise, the eye starts to pick out details and shapes, that might be elephants balanced precariously on tightropes and each others’ backs.
